Kenya Anglican Youth Organization

“Be strong in the Lord”

Ephesians 6:10

Vision

A Growing, Caring Anglican Youth boldly Proclaiming Christ - empowering young people to be confident disciples who transform their communities through the Gospel.

Mission

To Reach and Equip the Youth to Transform the Society with the Gospel - building up young people in Christian faith and empowering them for responsible leadership.

Our Journey

Over 60 years of empowering young people for Christ and community transformation

Our History

The Kenya Anglican Youth Organization (KAYO) was started in 1962 by the then Bishop of Mt Kenya Diocese – the Late Obadiah Kariuki. He started it with the aim of bringing young people to the church of Christ, envisioning a forum where youth would be empowered in matters of faith and equipped to be soldiers of Christ.

KAYO leadership organizes conferences at both Diocesan and Provincial levels to bring together Anglican youth for teaching about faith and personal growth. Members initiate projects which earn them income and also provide employment, including shoemaking, making and selling tablecloths, and even building houses for rental.

In 1964, the Bishop launched the Diocesan A.Y.O at St. Paul's mother church Kabete, establishing a youth committee to carry on the enormous youth work in the Diocese, later expanding across the entire country.

Teach me good Lord to serve you with all my strength, body, soul and mind. To love you and rejoice in you always. To offer my services without counting the cost. I pray that your Holy Spirit will give me courage, to fight against the wicked spiritual forces, by the help of your word. To labour in your vineyard, looking forward to eternal life. In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
